How it works

April 11th, 2011

Websites that have been abandoned by their owners are subject to removal by their hosting providers.

Let’s say that there was a website called

The domain name needed to be renewed at least once every year.  Some website owners can usually make long-term domain purchases of up to 10 or 12 years.

However, if a renewal for a website is not done in time , the hosting provider will cancel the account by suspending any original web pages from showing.  It its place, the hosting provider might publish a notice saying that the account has been suspended.

The website owner is provided ample time to renew even if their hosting has been cancelled.   If this does not happen, then the hosting provider releases the domain name and it achieves the ‘dropped’ status.

Our website feeds from this list of expired domain names about 24h before they are officially dropped.   This is a crucial time as anyone can then proceed to register it again.

So even though as of this writing the website has not gone through the final drop process, it will do so within the next day.

So give our tool the first try and if you feel you can restore a domain to its former glory, you have the option to register for a minimum of one year.

Even if you do not intend on buying a website right away, our tool can be used to give you ideas for your next project.

  1. Go to
  2. Enter your keyword, for example: sports
  3. To make your search a more targeted one, you can set the number of digits to around 12, smaller words that are made of a single or two words will be more valuable to you in the long run
  4. On the .tld combo box, switch to .com.  .com names are more valuable and harder to register because of their popularity so competition will be fierce.
  5. Select the ‘Search Now’ button.

That’s all there is to it. We will work to continually improve search results and features.
